June is the month of the summer solstice, height of the sun’s power, and a time of warmth, passion, and growth. The days stretch long, golden light bathes the earth, and the air is thick with possibility.
This month carries the potent mix of the energy of fire and water – actualised in blazing solstice celebrations and cooling, cleansing dips in wild waters. The veil between worlds is thin once more, buzzing with the hum of life and transformation.
This is the time to embrace the fullness of the season. From working with solar magick, to crafting with the beauty offered up by Mother Nature, these 20 tasks will help you align your craft with the fiery energy of June.
Choose what calls to you and weave some of these these spells into your days.
1. Celebrate the Summer Solstice (Litha)
The longest day of the year marks the sun at its peak, radiating energy, vitality, and abundance.
Honour this powerful day with fire rituals, solar offerings, or a feast in the sun’s honor. Light candles or a bonfire, and offer herbs like rosemary and bay leaves to the flames. Speak your desires into the fire and let the smoke carry them into the universe.

2. Make Sun Water
Charge water under the midsummer sun to infuse it with solar power. Many practitioners believe sun water is a potent elixir that embodies the sun’s life-giving essence, promoting vitality, purification, and spiritual renewal.
Simply place a jar of clean water in direct sunlight for several hours. Add citrus peels, sunflowers, or clear quartz for extra energy. Use it for anointing, in spellwork, or as a potion for strength and vitality.

3. Craft a Solar Talisman
Harness the strength of the sun by creating a charm infused with solar energy.
Use materials like gold, citrine, or sun symbols. Charge it in the midday sun and carry it with you to boost confidence, creativity, and personal power. You can also carve sigils into a small piece of wood or metal and anoint it with sun-infused spell oil.
4. Perform a Bonfire Release Ritual
Midsummer is the perfect time to burn away what no longer serves you.
Write down fears, limiting beliefs, or emotional burdens on a piece of paper. Light a fire outside (or use a candle) and burn the paper while visualizing (and feeling) the weight lifting from you. Let the ashes scatter on the wind, releasing the past and making space for new energy.

5. Create a Honey & Cinnamon Spell Jar

-
A small glass jar
-
Honey for sweetness, love, and attraction
-
Cinnamon for success and passion
-
A small piece of paper with your intention written on it
-
Optional: Rose petals, bay leaf, or gold flakes
Seal the jar with wax and keep it on your altar or carry it with you to draw in abundance and joy.
6. Practice Shadow Work (in the Light)
With the sun at its strongest by the end of June, this month is a great time to do shadow work (and shadow work is an essential part of any witch’s craft).
Use the summer sun’s illuminating power to shine a light on your hidden emotions and patterns. Reflect on old wounds or limiting beliefs and work on releasing and/or re-writing them.
Write in a journal, meditate in sunlight with a specific intention, or perform a tarot spread focused on your revealing your unseen shadows.

As the tea steeps, set intentions of peace, joy, and vitality.
Drink it to absorb the sun’s powerful, activating energy or save for later and use it in spellwork or cleaning rituals.

8. Draw Down the Sun
Just as witches draw down the moon, you can invoke the energy of the sun.
Stand outside at noon, arms raised, and visualize golden light pouring into you. Absorb its strength, creative enrgy, and motivational frequency.
Speak affirmations aloud, such as “I am radiant, strong, and unstoppable.”
9. Harvest St. John’s Wort (on Midsummer’s Eve)
This herb is at its most potent around the solstice and is known for protection, banishing negativity, and bringing light into dark places.
Harvest with gratitude, on the eve of the summer solstice, when the sap is at its highest. Bunch, hang and dry it for later use in teas, spell jars, or charm bags.
You can also place it under your pillow for protection in the dreamscapes.
**Tip: If St. John’s Wort doesn’t grow locally to you, harvest another flower or herb on Midsummer’s Eve, as it’s one of the best days in the year for harvesting, Daisy, calendula, rose or raspberry leaves are all abundant in late June.
10. Make a Herbal Smoke Bundles
Gather summer’s most powerful herbs – rosemary, mugwort, chamomile, yarrow and lavender- and tie them into bundles. Let them dry and then burn later for purification (much like Native American smudge sticks).
Midsummer is the ideal time to make your supply of herbal smoke bundles for the rest of the year. It’s also a gorgeous activity to do with friends, and allows you to also share resources.

12. Perform a Butterfly Wish Spell

-
Meditate on the butterfly’s message of transformation and growth.
-

13. Work with the Strawberry Full Moon
June’s full moon is known as the Strawberry Moon, and it’s all about sweetness, love, and fulfillment.

14. Bathe in Natural Water
Swim in the ocean, a river, or a lake to cleanse and refresh your spirit. Pack a picnic and make a day of it with your favourite witchy sisters.
If wild waters aren’t accessible, take a ritual bath with sea salt and sun-charged herbs. Let the water wash away stagnation, leaving you renewed and re-energized.
15. Cleanse and Charge Crystals in Ocean Water
If you live near the sea, use its powerful, natural energy to cleanse and charge your crystals (be sure they are water safe! Selenite, for example, is a big no-no).
Submerge them in saltwater to cleanse any heavy or dance energy they have picked up, and to amplify their intrinsic power.
16. Use Seashells in Spellwork
