1. Rainwater collection jars
April is known for its showers. This month’s rain carries the frequencies of cleansing, renewal, and divination. And sometimes the potency and destruction of storms.
Capturing the range of rainwater that falls in April allows you to preserve the magic of the season, for future spellwork.
What to do:
- Place a clean glass jar or bowl outside during rainfall.
- Whisper an incantation: “Sacred rain, cleanse and bless, fill this jar with nature’s breath.”
- Once collected, strain out any debris and pour the elixir into a dark glass jar or apothecary bottle.
- Label with the date, moon phase, weather conditions, and any other relevant info.
- Use it for ritual baths, spell bottles, cleansing sprays, and divination rituals.

13. Spell-infused ink
There is an ancient power in writing – words imbued with purpose become spells in their own right.
Crafting your own spell-infused ink transforms every letter, symbol, or sigil into a vessel of deep, personal magick.
Use homemade ink to write petitions, draw protective symbols, or inscribe affirmations that resonate with your desires.
Ingredients & Tools:
- Base ingredient for colour, for eg. walnut husks (wisdom, grounding), hibiscus petals (love, passion, attraction), beetroot (vtality, strength, manifestation)
- Water (moon-charged or rainwater)
- Gum Arabic (for thickness and longevity)
- A small pot (for simmering)
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Glass jar with lid (for storage)
- Essential oils (a drop of rosemary for clarity, rose for love, etc. Optional)
Method:
Prepare the base: Begin by placing about ½ cup of your chosen botanical (crushed walnut husks, dried hibiscus petals, beetroot slices) into a small pot. Add 1 cup of water, and combine, focussing on your intention for the ink, envisioning it becoming a vessel for your words and spells.
Simmer & infuse: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat. Stir occasionally, and allow it to simmer for 20–30 minutes, staying present with the process.
Strain the ink: Once the liquid has deepened to a rich hue, carefully pour it through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl to separate the plant material. Press the herbs gently to extract as much of the pigment as possible.
Add Gum Arabic: Stir in about ½ teaspoon of gum arabic to the strained liquid. This natural resin thickens the ink and ensures it adheres smoothly to paper without smudging. If you desire a thicker or more vibrant consistency, adjust the amount of gum arabic slowly until you reach the desired texture.
Enhance the magick (optional):
For an added layer of enchantment, add a drop of essential oil (rosemary for clarity, rose for love, or peppermint for focus). As you stir your ink, speak your intention into it, for eg. “May these words carry my desire into the universe and manifest with purpose.”
Bottle & charge: Carefully pour the completed ink into a dark glass jar with a secure lid.
Use your ink: When ready, use your spell-infused ink with a quill, brush, or dip pen. Write petitions, affirmations, or sigils to enhance your spellwork. Inscribe candles, draw protective symbols on your altar tools, or fill the pages of your grimoire with words that now carry heightened energy and personal significance.
**Tip: Natural pigments may settle, so shake gently before each use.
14. Flower-adorned brooms (besoms)
Brooms are powerful tools for cleansing and renewal.
Adorn a small besom with fresh flowers, dried herbs, and charms.
Hang it near your door to ward off negativity and symbolically sweep away stagnant energy before Beltane, whilst inviting fresh, vibrant energy.
15. Solar-infused floral vinegar
Harness the power of the sun by infusing apple cider vinegar with fresh spring flowers like dandelions, violets, and rose petals (ensure they are edible).
Place the jar in sunlight for several weeks, allowing it to absorb the solar frequencies fully.
Use this vinegar in cleansing rituals, beauty spells, or kitchen witchcraft.
April’s magick is fertile, electric, and wild!
By crafting with intention and devotion, you can align yourself with this vital pulse of nature, and infuse it into your daily life.
So gather your materials, whisper your spells, and let your hands shape magick into being.
Blessed be.
