May is bursting with life – flowers in full bloom, the sun stretching longer into the evening, and the air humming with possibility.
The veil between the seen and unseen thins once more as Beltane (aka May Day) ignites the land with fecundity and fertility. This is a month of expansion, where the energy shifts from planting seeds to watching them grow (hurray!)
It’s a time for fire, movement, and reveling in the wild abandon of the season!
As the earth comes alive, so should your craft. From celebrating the Sun, to casting flower spells, to calling in adventure, May offers endless ways to connect with nature.
Below, you’ll find 15 witchy tasks to deepen your practice and infuse your days with magick. FYI some links in this article may be affiliate. So pick what calls to you, and let May’s energy guide your way….
1. Celebrate Beltane
The month of May begins with fire, passion, and celebration!
Beltane, on May 1st, is a festival of fertility and abundance, where bonfires blaze and love run free (think 60s vibes!)
Honor this ancient sabbat by lighting candles, dancing under the stars, or weaving flowers into your hair. Set intentions for growth, passion, and joy.
If you have access to a fire, write down a wish and cast it into the flames – watch it rise like a spell carried on the wind.

2. Make a flower crown
Nothing says May like a crown of wildflowers!
When witches weave a flower crown, it’s SO much more than just a pretty accessory. Choose flowers and herbs that align with an intention, and know you are crafting a magickal tool, an adornment that holds power:
- Daisies for joy
- Lavender for calm
- Rosemary for protection
As you weave, whisper your desires into the petals and leaves.
Wear your crown in ritual, during meditation, or whenever you want to embody the energy of blooming confidence and natural power.
3. Work with the Full Flower Moon
May’s full moon, known as the Flower Moon, radiates growth, beauty, and the power of manifestation.
Use this moon’s energy to boost glamour magick, amplify prosperity spells, or set new goals.
Sit under its glow and visualize yourself flourishing like the flowers around you. If you can, leave out a bowl of water to soak up the moon’s energy – use it later in baths, teas, or anointing rituals.
4. Craft a Sun charm
As the sun strengthens in May, its energy can be harnessed for confidence, vitality, and success. A sun charm is a simple but powerful talisman that radiates positivity and strengthens personal power. You can carry it with you, place it on your altar, or hang it in your home to attract warmth, joy, and abundance.
You’ll need:
-
A small pouch or fabric that can be sown
-
A piece of citrine or sunstone for success and optimism
-
Bay leaves or oil for prosperity and confidence (shop bay laurel leaf oil here)
-
Cinnamon sticks to boost energy and passion
-
Dried orange peel for for happiness and solar energy
-
A gold or yellow ribbon to bind your charm with solar power
Charm instructions:
Set your intention – what do you want the charm to bring into your life?
Hold each ingredient in your hand and visualize it glowing with golden light as you place it into the pouch or locket.
Tie or seal the charm while speaking an affirmation, such as “With the power of the sun, I shine brightly and step into my strength.”
Place the charm in direct sunlight for a few hours to charge with solar energy.
Carry it with you, keep it on your altar, or hang it in a sunny window to let the charm work its magic!
This charm is perfect for boosting confidence, attracting good fortune, and aligning yourself with the fiery, expansive energy of May!
5. Forage wild herbs & flowers
May’s greenery offers an abundance of magickal ingredients – dandelions, daisies, elderflower, clover, hawthorn.
Head outside and gather what calls to you (always remember to ask permission from the land). Every plant carries wisdom—listen to what they have to share.
Dry your finds for later use in spell jars, teas, or incense blends.
6. Perform a fire scrying ritual
As the days grow warmer, fire takes on a new intensity. Instead of gazing into water or your black mirror, try scrying into flames.
Light a candle or sit by a bonfire and soften your gaze. What images appear in the flickering light? Fire scrying can reveal hidden messages, guidance, or even glimpses of the future. Let the flames speak.
7. Make a honey jar for sweetness & love
Honey has long been used in magick to attract sweetness, love, and harmony.
Create a honey jar spell by filling a small jar with honey, cinnamon, rose petals and other ingredients that bring sweetness.
Here are some elements to include:
- 30ml glass jars
- 20ml glass jars with screw eyes (great for hanging charms)
- Rose quartz chips
- Tiny rose quartz hearts
- Sun-dried rose petals and buds
- Anima Mundi rose petal power (Soooo beautiful and potent to use in spells, including tea and rose milk!)
- Organic lavender essential oil
- Dried French lavender flowers
- Pink Himalayan salts (also add these to your ritual bath for a total detox!)
- 100 cinnamon sticks
- Organic cinnamon essential oil
- Organic german dried chamomile flowers
- Gya Labs organic roman chamomile essential oil (I LOVE this brand)
- A written affirmation like, “I am worthy of love and kindness,” and place it in the jar.
- Organic dark amber wildflower honey
- Local Hive honey (squeezy bottles make both of these an easy choice)
Write your desire on a piece of paper and place it inside. Seal it with wax and shake it whenever you want to activate its energy. This spell works beautifully for love, friendship, or even self-compassion.

8. Walk barefoot for grounding
Kick off your shoes and let the earth embrace you. Walking barefoot, or ‘earthing,’ connects you to the land’s energy, grounding and balancing your spirit.
Find a grassy meadow, sandy shore, or soft soil to walk on. With each step, visualize any lingering negativity sinking into the earth, replaced by fresh, vibrant energy.
9. Work with honeybee energy
Bees are sacred messengers of community, abundance, and perseverance.
Meditate on their energy – how they tirelessly work yet never forget the sweetness of life.
Support pollinators by planting bee-friendly flowers or using honey in spellwork. To bring in prosperity, draw a tiny bee sigil on a piece of paper and place it in your wallet or near your workspace.

14. Dance to raise energy
Magick doesn’t always require candles and herbs – sometimes, all you need is movement.
Dance freely, uninhibited, allowing your body to channel the energy of the season. Drum, chant, or simply move with intention. As you dance, visualize yourself shaking off stagnant energy, welcoming joy and new possibilities.
15. Cast a spell for adventure & expansion
May is a time of movement – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Cast a spell for adventure using maps, feathers, or travel talismans.
Write your dream destinations on paper, fold them into an origami bird, and set them on your altar.
If you can’t travel physically, explore through books, learning, or astral journeys
May is a season of expansion, of stepping out of the tender introspection of early spring and embracing life in full bloom!
It’s a time for passion, for dancing barefoot, for calling in love and abundance. So let the energy of this month fuel your magick. Whether through fire, flowers, or fearless adventure, hoose the rituals that resonate with you and use them to uplevel your craft this month.
Blessings to you.
