May is a month of wild growth and sacred fire.
The earth is bursting with life, colour, and rhythm. Beltane opens the month with passion and joy, inviting us to celebrate fertility in all its forms – creative, sensual, emotional, and spiritual.
The veil between worlds is thin, the Fae are near, and magick is in the air!
For witches, May is a powerful time to work with flowers, fire, the sun, and the spirits of the land.
Crafting is one of the most powerful ways to honour the energy of the season – turning intention into form, and beauty into magick. Whether you’re dancing around a fire or tending a sacred garden, these crafts will help you harness the power of May with heart and hands.

So gather your materials and let’s begin…
1. Beltane flower crown
A classic for a reason—flower crowns are symbols of beauty, abundance, fertility, and celebration. They’re perfect for rituals, dancing, or simply honoring your connection to the blooming world.
Materials:
- Fresh flowers (dandelions, daisies, roses, or anything seasonal)
- Vines of some kind – be sure they won’t irritate your skin
- Green floral wire or twine
- Floral tape (optional)
- Scissors
How to make your flower crown:
Use the vines to create the base of the crown, wrapping around your head to form a circle. If you can’t find vines, use green floral wire.
Wrap flower stems around the base, securing them with floral tape or twisting with twine.
Layer flowers to create volume and balance – be brave, and create something beautiful!
Your crown won’t last long, so wear it immediately, in ritual or play.
2. May fire offering bundles
Fires aren’t only for Beltane!
May is the month of the sacred fire, and these bundles are a beautiful way to feed the flames with offerings, whilst releasing intentions during ritual.
You’ll need:
- Dried herbs (rosemary, lavender, sage, mugwort – it’s the perfect opportunity to use up springs and leaves from last summer)
- Dried flower petals
- Pine needles
- Small slips of paper
- Natural twine
How to make them:
Write an intention, wish, or fear to release on a slip of paper.
Wrap the paper with a small handful of herbs and petals.
Tie the bundle tightly with twine, sealing your intent. Tuck in any last flower petals or pine needles.
Burn it in a bonfire, cauldron, or fire-safe dish while speaking your words aloud.
Tip: Use red or orange petals for passion, and white flowers for purification.
3. Hawthorn blossom-infused honey
Hawthorn blooms in May and is sacred to both heart magic and the Fae. Infusing honey captures its soft, protective, and romantic energy for use in all sorts of things, from kitchen witchery and cookery, to spell jars and glamour magick.
Ingredients & supplies:
- Clean, dry hawthorn blossoms (or substitute with rose if unavailable)
- Raw local honey
- Small glass jar
Method:
Place a handful of blossoms into your jar.
Cover completely with honey, stirring slowly.
Seal and place on a sunny windowsill for 1–2 weeks.
Strain out the flowers using a muslin-lined sieve, and store the honey in a cool, dark place. Use as needed.
4. Solar plexus empowerment pendants
These pendants are small, radiant talismans crafted to awaken your inner fire, confidence, and willpower. Worn over the heart or solar plexus, they help you align with the sun’s fiery energy (and the season of Beltane), helping you move through the world with strength, joy, and radiant purpose!
Materials:
- Yellow waxed cord (1mm) or
- Golden thread
- A selection of small beads, charms, or small stones. Choose from:
- 1000 assorted wooden beads (omg so beautiful!)
- Gorgeous set of natural stone beads
- Antique metal spacer beads
- 60 x 6mm citrine beads
- Polished amber beads
- 200 x 4mm carnelian spheres
- 90 x sunstone beads (my favourite)
- A small pendant base or natural material (wooden disc, shell, leather circle, or coin-sized stone)
- Embroidery needle (optional)
- Glue (if needed)
- Scissors
Instructions:
Choose a central piece for your pendant – this could be a wooden disc, a polished stone, or even a flat shell.
Wrap this central piece with yellow or gold thread in a spiral or crisscross pattern, chanting or whispering intentions as you go: “I radiate strength and joy. I move forward with power and purpose.”
Tie it off securely for now.
Thread your beads or stones onto a long piece of cord or embroidery floss, arranging in a way that feel intuitive and will amplify your purpose.
Attach the bead string to your pendant base, wrapping or glueing it in place. You can let the beads dangle like a charm or work them into the wrapping itself.
Tie the pendant to a longer cord so you can wear it as a necklace or hang it near your altar or mirror.
Charge your pendant in sunlight at noon, or during a Beltane fire or candle ritual, speaking your chosen affirmation.
Tip: For extra empowerment, anoint your pendant with a drop of sun-charged oil or rub it with a pinch of dried calendula or rosemary before wearing.
5. Rose petal divination cards
Create an intuitive divination deck using pressed rose petals. This is one of the loveliest May crafts of all, and you can make it as complex or as simple as you choose.
Combining the beauty and gentle power of early summer roses, with your own intuitive gifts can create a highly potent and personalized divination tool.
You’ll need:
- Pressed rose petals
- Blank index cards or cardstock
- Glue or Mod Podge
- Pen or marker
How to make your set:
Glue one, two or three rose petals onto each card.
Use your intuition to write a word, phrase, or symbol inspired by the petal’s shapes or colours.
Once dry, charge your cards with intention (for clarity, truth, or connection?) Shuffle and use them for quick daily draws or dream messages.
Tip: Store the cards in a silk pouch with a dried rosebud to keep their energy soft and clear.
6. Fae garden altar
The veil to the Fae realms is thin in May, especially at twilight. A small outdoor altar invites their blessing and connection.
You’ll need:
- A flat surface outdoors (tree stump, stone, shallow dish)
- Natural offerings (flowers, milk, honey, shiny objects)
- Crystals or small statues (optional)
How to make your altar:
Choose a quiet, undisturbed place in your garden or near a tree.
Arrange your chosen items with care and respect.
Speak a few words aloud: “To the spirits of green and bloom, I offer beauty and welcome you soon.”
Visit often, keeping it tidy and refreshed.
Tip: Never take from the Fae altar—only offer. Leave things they love: bells, shiny beads, cake, or small glasses of wine.

10. Sunshine wreath
Wreaths aren’t just for Yule—they’re powerful symbols of the Wheel of the Year, representing cycles, continuity, and the sun.
Crafting a sunshine wreath in May celebrates the rising energy of the sun, as well as joy, creativity, and warmth, making it a radiant addition to your door, altar, or garden gate.
Create your own with bright blossoms, dried herbs, and sun-loving flowers, and make the crafting process into a ritual all of its own, to call solar magick into your home.
These are especially lovely to craft in a group, as wreath-making is such a sociable craft activity.
You’ll need:
A wreath base (these are good, or form your own from vines and moss)
- 10 inch circular wire base
- Very large grapevine base (makes a stunning wreath)
- Moon shaped wreath base
Fresh or dried flowers (marigold, daisy, sunflower, dandelion, calendula, chamomile)
Herbs or greens (rosemary, thyme, ivy, or eucalyptus)
Floral wire or twine
Scissors or garden shears
Optional extras:
- Small solar charms
- Celestial sun, moon and star charms
- Sunstone beads
- Small gold bells
- Natural raw citrine pendants
- Gold ribbon
- Yellow ribbon
- … or wide orange ribbon (my fave)
Instructions:
Lay out your flowers and greenery. Choose blossoms that make you feel happy, light, or energized – let your intuition guide your design.
Start attaching your base greenery around the wreath frame, securing with floral wire or twine. This creates a foundation of texture and colour.
Add your flowers in layers, focusing on symmetry, flow, or whatever feels beautiful to you. You can cluster blooms at the base or arrange them evenly around the ring.
Add finishing touches like ribbons, charms, or crystals, tying them in securely. You might want to hang a sun charm at the center or tuck a small written affirmation into the weave.
Hang your wreath on a front door, gate, or wall – anywhere you want to welcome brightness and life force.
