Blue easter craft idea using painted eggs in a Spring craft aesthetic

40 BEST Magickal, Natural Spring Craft Ideas for Witchy Adults!

Spring is a time of quickening – when the earth shakes off its winter slumber and pulses with new life. The air hums with the song of renewal, the soil stirs with unseen movement, and the energy of creation rushes through the world like sap rising in the trees.

We, too, are part of this great awakening.

To craft is to create, and to create is to wield raw magic.

Every spell, every sacred act of intention, is a weaving of energy into form. The flick of a paintbrush, the tying of a knot, the shaping of clay – these are not just mundane tasks; they are rituals of manifestation and purpose, spells cast with hands and heart.

The ancients knew this well: that the things we create with intention become vessels of power, imbued with our spirit, our breath, our will.

This guide gathers 50 of the best natural magickal crafts for witchy, creative souls who feel the call of spring’s wild magick!

1. Beeswax candles

Fire is the great illuminator, catalyst, and bridge between the physical and spiritual planes.

Craft candles from pure beeswax, add essential oils for the season, and dress them with your favourite dried herbs  – parsley, sage and rosemary are great choices.

As you pour or roll each candle, whisper your intentions into the wax, sealing your spell within.

Light them during rituals to invoke the warmth and life-giving power of the returning sun. Get your supplies here:

2. Vine & ivy crown

Ivy and vines represent endurance, transformation, and wild nature, making them perfect for ritual wear or Beltane celebrations (Beltane arrives on May 1st, so some of your April crafting will be in preparation for this).

Ivy and vines, such as honeysuckle or grape, are lovely to work with.

Gather long, flexible vines and weave them into a circle, securing them with twine if necessary

Adorn with fresh flowers, dried herbs, or small charms.

Wear during rituals, Beltane festivities, or even moonlit meditations.

**If you have sensitive skin, you may want to be cautious handling certain plant material.

3. Willow wand

Willow is sacred to the moon, water, and the unseen realms, making it a powerful wand material.

Late March is around the last time you can prune willow, before it comes into leaf. So with respect and gratitude, harvest a stem with the intention of wand-making.

Wrap it in silver thread, attach charms or crystals, and dedicate it under the light of the full moon.

Use it to direct energy, open portals between worlds, and strengthen your connection to the fae and spirits of the land.

4. Spring sun catchers

Harness the power of the returning sun by crafting easy DIY sun catchers.

Wire-wrap crystals like clear quartz, citrine, or sunstone (if you feel called, weave in charms of butterflies, eggs, or spirals for added detail and power).

Hang them in windows where they’ll refract light, filling your space with protective and energizing frequencies.

5. Dandelion wish bottles

Dandelions arrive fairly early in Spring and hold the beautiful emergent magick of wish-making and possibility.

It’s so much fun to collect their fluffy seeds and place them in tiny glass bottles with herbs like star anise (luck), rose petals (love), or cinnamon (success).

Seal your bottle with a cork and some melted wax, and shake it while whispering your dreams, sending them out to the Goddess like scattered seeds on the wind.

6. Herbal fire starters

Prepare for your Beltane fire by crafting some herbal fire starters to not only ignite the flame, but carry your wishes into the heart of the bonfire!

Gather any dried herbs you have around – it’s the perfect opportunity to use up springs and leaves from last summer (rosemary, mugwort, cinnamon sticks).

Bind them with twine and tuck in flower petals or pine needles.

Use to light your ritual fires or burn in cauldrons as offerings.

7. DIY bird feeders

Birds are messengers between worlds, and many witches believe they carry wisdom from the spirit realm to the earthly plane.

Create bird feeders using pinecones, fat, and seeds, blessing them as offerings for nature’s sacred creatures.

Speak a spell of gratitude as you hang them in trees in your garden, asking for guidance and harmony in return. Then observe which birds visit – each will carry its own omen and mystical meaning.

8. Garden sigil stones

Imbue your blossoming Spring garden with magick by painting sigils of abundance, growth, and protection onto smooth stones.

Place them at the base of plants, along pathways, or near your door to weave protective and nurturing energy into the land.

9. Rainwater collection jars

Spring is known for its rainshowers, and at this time of year rain carries the frequencies of cleansing, renewal, and divination. And sometimes the potency and destruction of storms.

Capturing the range of rainwater that falls allows you to preserve the magic of the season, for future spellwork.

What to do:

  • Place a clean glass jar or bowl outside during rainfall.
  • Whisper an incantation: “Sacred rain, cleanse and bless, fill this jar with nature’s breath.”
  • Once collected, strain out any debris and pour the elixir into a dark glass jar or apothecary bottle.
  • Label with the date, moon phase, weather conditions, and any other relevant info.
  • Use it for ritual baths, spell bottles, cleansing sprays, and divination rituals.

As nature comes back to life and shoots, leaves and buds are bursting forth, take real notice of what’s growing in your part of the world.

Start a Book of Shadows specifically for plant magic, to serve as a personal grimoire of earthly wisdom.

Decorate a journal with pressed flowers, and include handwritten observations, experiences with different herbs, plant messages and incantations, dedicating it to the spirits of the green world.

You could fill a simple ring binder with loose pages, or start a special witchy journal – these are beautiful:

14. Flower-pressed bookmarks

These simple, personalised bookmarks are beautiful to use in spellbooks, grimoires, or seasonal reads.

15. Pressed flower lanterns

Don’t stop there! Once you have a stock of dried flowers, you can use them to create a beautiful upcycled glass jar lantern.

Simply glue your dried flowers onto a glass jar, adding as many or as few as you like to form stunning patterns.

Place a tea light inside to create a beautiful, glowing lantern that symbolizes the returning light, and life awakening all around (even after dark!)

16. Eggshell spell powders

How to make cascarilla:

  • Rinse and dry eggshells completely.
  • Grind them into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle. Hold a clear intention for protection, and chant protective words as you work.

19. Spell-infused ink

There is an ancient power in writing – words imbued with purpose become spells in their own right.

Crafting your own spell-infused ink transforms every letter, symbol, or sigil into a vessel of deep, personal magick.

Use homemade ink to write petitions, draw protective symbols, or inscribe affirmations that resonate with your desires.

Ingredients & tools:
  • Base ingredient for colour, for eg. walnut husks (wisdom, grounding), hibiscus petals (love, passion, attraction), beetroot (vitality, strength, manifestation)
  • Water (moon-charged or rainwater)
  • Gum Arabic (for thickness and longevity) – get liquid here, and get powder here
  • A small pot (for simmering)
  • Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Glass jar with lid (for storage)
  • Essential oils (a drop of rosemary for clarity, rose for love, etc. Optional)

Method:

Prepare the base: Begin by placing about ½ cup of your chosen botanical (crushed walnut husks, dried hibiscus petals,  beetroot slices) into a small pot. Add 1 cup of water, and combine, focussing on your intention for the ink, envisioning it becoming a vessel for your words and spells.

Simmer & infuse: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat. Stir occasionally, and allow it to simmer for 20–30 minutes, staying present with the process.

Strain the ink: Once the liquid has deepened to a rich hue, carefully pour it through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl to separate the plant material. Press the herbs gently to extract as much of the pigment as possible.

Add Gum Arabic: Stir in about ½ teaspoon of gum arabic to the strained liquid. This natural resin thickens the ink and ensures it adheres smoothly to paper without smudging. If you desire a thicker or more vibrant consistency, adjust the amount of gum arabic slowly until you reach the desired texture.

Enhance the magick (optional):
For an added layer of enchantment, add a drop of essential oil (rosemary for clarity, rose for love, or peppermint for focus). As you stir your ink, speak your intention into it, for eg. “May these words carry my desire into the universe and manifest with purpose.”

Bottle & charge: Carefully pour the completed ink into a dark glass jar with a secure lid.

Use your ink: When ready, use your spell-infused ink with a quill, brush, or dip pen. Write petitions, affirmations, or sigils to enhance your spellwork. Inscribe candles, draw protective symbols on your altar tools, or fill the pages of your grimoire with words that now carry heightened energy and personal significance.

**Tip: Natural pigments may settle, so shake gently before each use.

20. Balancing branch mobile

Create a hanging mobile using a fallen branch as the foundation, to symbolise the perfect equilibrium of the Spring Equinox.

Tie natural elements like feathers (air), stones (earth), shells (water), and small bells (fire) to different lengths of string, ensuring that each side of your mobile remains balanced (this is a really fun craft to do with children).

You can also add symbols of light and dark – like sun and moon charms or white and black ribbons – to honour the duality of the season.

When complete, hang your branch mobile near your altar or over your mantlepiece, to remind you to maintain harmony between action and rest, growth and reflection.

21. Storm sigils

Storms are filled with untamed power – the perfect energy for sigil magic.

Draw a sigil representing strength, change, or protection, then place it outside during a storm to be charged with the raw force of wind and rain.

Keep this sigil in your grimoire, pocket, or altar space for an extra surge of energy.

22. Fabric scrap garland

Cut fabric scraps or ribbons in earthy, pastel, or floral tones and tie them to a length of twine to make a garland. This can be used to decorate your space for spring, as a gentle nod to renewal and fresh energy.

This is great for using up old pieces of fabric, old clothes, or even pillowcases and curtains that are past their best.

23. Love & passion charm bags

From Valentine’s Day in Feb, to Beltane on May 1st, love spells bloom in Spring!

It’s when the earth herself is in a state of sensual awakening.

There are a whole plethora of love spells to try, but crafting a simple charm bag and carrying it with you for the month is another way to harness this particular frequency (yum!)

Fill a small red or pink pouch with rose petals, jasmine, cinnamon, rose quarts and carnelian. Sew your own from fabric, or use a small, readymade drawstring pouch.

Hold it to your heart, speaking words of self-love or attraction, and carry it with you to draw warmth and passion into your life.

24. Nature mandala

Crafting a nature mandala is a truly earth-honouring way to connect with the energy of the season. You can make yours inside or out, but I prefer to make mine outside as a offering to the land.

Go out into nature and gather leaves, stones, flowers, and twigs.

Begin with a central focal point, then arrange your items in a circular, symmetrical pattern to reflect harmony and renewal. Let intuition guide your design, and have fun with it!

Once complete, sit in reflection and gratitude for a moment, appreciating the natural beauty surrounding you before returning the materials to the earth.

25. Ribbon wish wands

A little like the woven ribbons of the Beltane May Pole, wish wands use the same magick of entwinement to call in love, creativity, abundance, and togetherness.

Find yourself a large sturdy twig and weave ribbons coloured ribbons around it.

Experiment with different colours and thicknesses of ribbon. Have fun, play – there’s no wrong way to do this, and your wand will become what you need it to.

If you like, leave long tassels at one end, and dance with it around the Beltane fire on May 1st.

28. Violet-infused oil

It’s around March that the first violets appear in the UK (and I think it’s similar in some states in the US).

With their delicate petals and profound healing and protective qualities, violets make a perfect infused oil for the early days of spring. This gentle, heart-opening oil can be used for anointing candles, in self-care rituals, or as a soothing skin remedy.

What you’ll need:

  • Fresh violet flowers
  • A light carrier oil (sweet almond, jojoba, or olive oil)
  • A small glass jar with a lid
  • A strainer or cheesecloth

How to make it:

Gather & cleanse: Gather your violet flowers, and ensure they are free of dirt and moisture

Fill the jar: Place the flowers into the jar, filling to the top. Pour the carrier oil over them, fully submerging the petals.

Let it steep: Seal the jar and place it in a warm, dark spot for 4–6 weeks, shaking gently every few days.

Strain & store: Once infused, strain out the petals and transfer the oil to a clean bottle. Store in a cool, dark place and use as needed.

This soft, floral oil carries the gentle magic of violets, offering calm, love, and emotional balance with every drop. You can apply straight to the skin, or make balms or creams, or use in spellwork and magick.

29. Solar-infused floral vinegar

Harness the power of the sun by infusing apple cider vinegar with fresh spring flowers like dandelions, violets, and rose petals (ensure they are edible).

Place the jar in sunlight for several weeks, allowing it to absorb the solar frequencies fully.

Use this vinegar in cleansing rituals, beauty spells, or kitchen witchcraft.

    • Lastly, gently peel the fabric wrap off of the parchment paper and hang up to dry.
    • Some people like to sew on a button and waxed cord for easy wrapping and securing.

    31. Herbal bath tea bags

This month, create bath tea bags filled with uplifting calendula, rose, and lemon balm (or any other herbs or dried flowers that tug at your intuition).
